Bounty Bros. #8: A Snake!
Bones gets an update and the first snake gets put to the screen.
This August I've spent my time proving out some changes I made to the Bones game engine by updating Striker Ball with those changes and verifying everything still works properly. These changes were largely made up of improvements to the code that was already there, so no new features, but a lot of important simplifications that make the engine easier to use and understand. While this stuff is boring as far as what to show for it, engine improvements are a plus for development now and forever, so we’re always happy to make those changes nonetheless.
We do however have a little something to show. The engine changes were a success before the end of the month so I spent the rest of my time getting the first snake on the screen for Bounty Bros.
It's not much, as you can see the snake is merely moving around, but this is the start to us finally getting into gameplay mechanics after a while of building up our features in preparation for the rest of the game. Our current plan is to start diving into gameplay design before nailing down the system we want to use for creating cut scenes which is the final major feature for Bounty Bros that we haven't previously explored.
The next few months could be the most exciting, so wish us luck, and here we go!
